About April Kim
April Kim
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, LAC)
If you're looking for someone who is going to silently nod while you do all the talking, I'm probably not your therapist. My style is conversational, collaborative, and genuine. I'll laugh with you, challenge you when it matters, celebrate your wins, and help you untangle the things that feel overwhelming.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, perfectionism, burnout, relationship challenges, trauma, and the messy reality of being human. Together, we'll focus less on becoming a "better" version of yourself and more on helping you build a life that actually feels like yours.
My approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while drawing from CBT, DBT, and other evidence-based approaches when they fit your goals. More than any particular modality, I believe that meaningful change happens in the context of a strong therapeutic relationship. Healing doesn't only happen in an office—it happens in ordinary moments, in relationships, in laughter, in trying something new, and in learning to give yourself the same compassion you so easily offer everyone else.
If you're ready for therapy that feels authentic, practical, and maybe even enjoyable sometimes, I'd love to meet you.
Summit Clinical Partners is also home to my clinical supervision practice — if you're a counselor working toward licensure in Colorado, I'd love to hear from you too.

What Supervisees Say
From counselors April has supervised on their path to licensure.
“Working with April was an invaluable part of my professional growth. She created a supportive environment that encouraged curiosity, strengthened my clinical reasoning, and expanded my critical thinking skills. I always appreciated her prompt communication, availability, and ability to provide thoughtful guidance while empowering me to develop confidence as a clinician. She also shared practical resources that I continue to use in my practice. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a knowledgeable, supportive, and growth-oriented supervisor.”
Malia
Clinical Supervision
“April is one of the most empathetic, patient, and supportive supervisors you can find! She helped me grow tremendously as a pre-licensed clinician and helped me discover the type of therapist I wanted to be. She has an amazing approach through blending clinical guidance, authenticity, and practical skills, while always showing that she cares about your wellbeing as a person first. I would highly recommend April as a supervisor to any pre-licensed or licensed clinician out there!”
Graylen
Clinical Supervision
“April is a supervisor who will stay true to their values and come from a place of kindness, compassion, ethicality, and transparency. My time with April as my supervisor helped heal the burnout and fatigue from the mental health field and previous supervisor that prioritized money over the people doing the work. I cannot express how supported and valued I felt while under April’s calm and nurturing supervision.”
Devon
Clinical Supervision
“April has been one of the most influential and trustworthy leaders that I have worked with throughout this career. Her ability to navigate conversations and problem solve in consultation is a gift that I was lucky to experience for over a year. Something that I found specifically valuable is her diverse career history and therapeutic experiences with multiple demographics. She is able to offer a broad range of support and perspective that I found very helpful during my time under her supervision. I highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for well rounded and holistic support!”

Ready to build a life that actually feels like yours?
Therapy doesn't have to feel sterile or distant. Summit Clinical Partners offers conversational, collaborative counseling for adults across Colorado — plus clinical supervision for counselors building their careers.
Therapy That Feels Authentic
Real conversation. Practical tools. A relationship that matters.
I believe that meaningful change happens in the context of a genuine therapeutic relationship. My practice centers on helping you untangle what feels overwhelming and build a life that actually feels like yours. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, perfectionism, burnout, or the simple fact of being human, we'll work together with honesty, humor, and evidence-backed approaches. Summit Clinical Partners is also home to my clinical supervision and consulting work — because supporting the people who do this work matters too.

Evidence-Based Approaches I Use
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you clarify what matters most and take action aligned with your values, even in the presence of difficult emotions or thoughts. It's practical, forward-focused, and grounded in what research shows actually works.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT addresses the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When anxiety or perfectionism are holding you back, we'll work together to identify patterns and build new, more helpful ways of thinking and responding.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT combines acceptance and change strategies, making it especially useful for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and relationship skills. It's structured, skill-based, and deeply compassionate.
Trauma-Focused & Relational Approaches
For trauma, shame, and interpersonal wounds, I draw on trauma-informed and relational therapies that honor your experience and help you heal within the safety of our therapeutic connection.
Humanistic & Strength-Based Work
I believe in your inherent capacity for growth. Together, we'll build on your strengths, tap into your resilience, and access the wisdom you already carry—even in the hardest moments.
More than any particular modality, though, I believe that meaningful change happens in the context of a strong therapeutic relationship.
Healing doesn't only happen in an office. It happens in ordinary moments, in relationships, in laughter, in trying something new, and in learning to give yourself the same compassion you so easily offer everyone else.
